This black series jacket is made using images from Tomita’s exhibition, “To Decay Is Also to Bloom.” The tulips captured in this work are no longer in full bloom. Their petals have begun to wither, bend, and fall into shadow. Yet even in the process of decay, they still seem to bloom with a quiet, lingering beauty. Tomita’s tulip photograph is boldly printed across the outer side of the jacket. The deep black tones bring out the texture, shadows, and fragile shine of the petals, giving the piece a striking and elegant presence. The jacket is fully reversible, with tulips printed throughout the inside as well. Tulips on the outside, tulips on the inside. It is a wearable photographic work with two distinct expressions.
